Therapeutic Riding (TR)
TR is designed for participants with disabilities and special needs to learn unmounted equestrian skills such as grooming techniques, tacking and untacking procedures, and mounted equestrian skills in the English discipline with the assistance of a Horse Leader, a Side Walker, and a Silent Off-Side Walker, or a combination thereof, if needed. Participants will achieve skills that increase motivation, pride, independence, garners new outlooks toward skill development, a greater sense of problem solving, and a healthier sense of sportsmanship.
Stable Management (SM)*
SM offers instruction in the correct ways to care for horses. Topics include equine anatomy, nutritional needs and types of hay and grains, veterinarian and farrier care, basic management techniques, grooming and bathing techniques, braiding and clipping, tack and equipment, and stall beddings.
Note: Mounted horsemanship skills are not taught.
